Roy is presently the Deputy Programme Leader for the MIC's MSc in Multimedia and Entertainment Technology. He lectures students in a wide variety of subjects, including digital video production, media literacy, creativity and storytelling, screenwriting, project management, as well as multimedia marketing, sales and distribution. Roy has written numerous funding proposals that involve the development and implementation of multimedia-related products and services. Before joining MIC, Roy spent over twenty years producing and globally distributing both Hong Kong and international films. He worked for eleven years with the Seasonal Film Corporation (1978-1988) under Ng See Yuen (the company that launched the careers of Jacky Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tsui Hark, Corey Yuen, Yuen Woo Ping and many other local and international artists). Roy got his start in the film industry as a martial arts performer [see Game of Death II (1979), The Snuff-Bottle Connection (1977), Snake in the Eagle's Shadow (1978), and Bruce Lee's Secret (1975)]. Later, he partnered with Ng See Yuen to establish World Video Ltd (1980-1985), which produced and distributed local home video products to the international marketplace. Roy later incorporated Independent TV Programming Ltd (1988-1999), the first company to executive-produce and distribute independent Chinese-language dramatic television series. Roy has worked on many feature films [see "No Retreat, No Surrender" (1985), "Raging Thunder" (1987) and "Shanghai 1920" (1992)]. Roy enjoys wilderness life, yoga meditation, martial arts (4th
degree black belt), fung shui, Chinese astrology, the I Ching, studies
in quantum mechanics and relativity, movies, filmmaking, popular
science, music, reading and writing. He can play the mridang and
tamboura. His favorite saying is "As you think, so you become".
